There is a unique Jizo Bodhisattva(see the photo above) in Zenkojido in Kyoto, which is located at the entrance of the famous Kiyomizu temple.

According to Buddhism, buddhas have four ranks that are Nyorai, Bodhisattva, Myouou and Tenbu from the top.
Nyorai mentions the buddhas who have achieved enlightenment, while Bodhisattva means the buddhas who still practice Buddhism in order to become Nyorai.
Talking about Jizo Bodhisattva, it is known as one of the Bodhisattvas to protect children.

Why is this Jizo Bodhisattva unique?
It is because a prayer needs to  turn Jizo’s head toward the direction where one’s desire is located before praying.
For example, a person whom you love lives north of the place, you can say your prayer after turning the Jizo’s head toward that direction.
Another example is that you would like to build a house, you should turn Jizo’s head toward that direction and pray for it.
Finally, I’ll suggest you turn Jizo’s head gently so that people in the future will be also able to pray for their wishes.

Given a chance, what kind of prayers would you like to say?
