Horyuji temple is the world cultural heritage site registered as Japan’s first one in 1993.
It’s known as the oldest wooden structures built in 607 A.D.
It’s amazing that carpenters in the ancient times made these buildings without high-tech machinery such as a crane, electric saw, wood planer and so on.
They must be talented people.

A carpenter said that all the timbers have their own features.
Some grew in the sunshine, others did  in the shade.
If timbers, grown in the shade, were exposed to the sunshine, these would be easily damaged and would not last long, and vice versa.
Hence, the timbers should be placed like where they grew.

When we look at a lattice frame located in an obscure place closely, the size of these timbers is not the same（See the photo above）. 
However, it still looks perfectly harmonious.
When we apply the wisdoms of architecture to human beings, we may learn to place the right people in the right position. 

Our lives seem to not only enjoy ourselves but also harmonize ourselves by using our own different abilities. 
It will result in contributing to the development of our society. 
We may call it destiny.

法隆寺は、1993年に日本で最初に登録された世界遺産です。
607年に創建された世界最古の木造建築物として知られています。
飛鳥時代の大工さんは、クレーンや電動ノコギリ、台鉋などのハイテク機械無しで、これらの建物を建てたなんて、驚きです。
有能な方ばかりだったに違いありません。

ある大工さんは、『木材にもそれぞれに特徴がある』と仰いました。
『日向で育つものもあれば、日陰で育つものもあります。
もし、日陰で育った木材を、日向に配置してしまうと、すぐ悪くなって長持ちしませんし、逆も然りです。
ですから、木材は、育った環境に配置すべきです。』

あまり目立たない場所にある格子窓をよく見てみると、木材の大きさが同じではありません。
しかしながら、見事に調和が取れています。
この建築の智慧を人間に当て嵌めると、『適材適所』を學べるかもしれません。

私達の人生は、楽しむのは勿論、それぞれの異なった能力を活かして調和している様にみえます。
結果として、社会の発展に貢献しているでしょう。
それを天命と呼ぶものかもしれません。
周りを見渡せば、私達に向けられた様々なメッセージに氣付くかもしれないと思いませんか。
