October 10th used to be celebrated as “Sports Day” until 2020(Sports Day has fallen on the second Monday in October since 2020).
It’s because the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 was held on October 10th.
October 10th was designated as a national holiday in 1966 to commemorate this special day.


Although the second Tokyo Olympic was held in August, why did the first Tokyo Olympic was held in October?
It’s because the climate in October is comfortable and we can expect sunny days.
