August 6 was a truly significant day in the world because the first atomic bombs were used for human beings in Hiroshima.

For your information, it was 600 meters above the Atomic Bomb Dome where the first atomic bomb was detonated at 8:15 a.m. in 1945. 
Approximately 350,000 people were in Hiroshima during the time when the bomb exploded. 
According to the survivors, the atomic bomb can be called as “flash and bang” because just for three seconds the event finished. 
Imagine that the surrounding air suddenly became more than 1,500 degrees Celsius ?
You could still see some belongings of the victims displayed in the  Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. 
One example is a charred tricycle for kids. 
It is so sad because it means those children who rode on it all died. 

The atomic Bomb called “Little Boy”  was 3.05 meters long, 0.71 meters  wide and 4.4 tons, which is equivalent to an Asian elephant, filled with Uranium-235. 

Do you know that there is the remains of fire caused by the atomic bomb, which has been kept since then?
The explanation plate on the monument, “Peace Tower”, said how it happened (See the photo below).

It’s located in Hoshino village, Yame city, Fukuoka prefecture, which is around 300 km southwest of Hiroshima.

Why is the monument located far from Hiroshima?
Mr. Yamamoto Tatsuo was on duty for military in Hiroshima around that time and experienced the atomic bomb explosion.
Soon after he visited the Kinshodo Book Store where his uncle ran, but he could not meet him and find any trace of him. 
What he saw was a devastating inferno like many charred corpses of unknown gender and a lot of burned people who were roving to look for water.
Since his father passed away at the early age, his uncle took care of him a lot. Hence, his uncle was like his father for him.

He looked for his uncle’s trace everywhere, as was expected, nothing could be found. 
However, he found a charcoal briquette and succeeded in regaining a fire by blowing on it.
He brought it back to his hometown as a remembrance of his uncle and kept it on his Buddhist altar to console his uncle’s spirit.
He secretly kept it for more than 20 years.
Accidentally, it was revealed to the public. 
And then, he decided to hand over to the village.

  
The fire has been divided and have been kept in several places.
One is Houtokuji temple in Kiryu city, Gunma prefecture. 
The fire has been flamed to pray for peace since August 6, 2015.

It’s said that there are around 13,000 atomic bombs in the worlds as of 2021.
Why do we need to have nuclear weapons?

8月6日は、初の原子爆弾が人間に対して広島で使われた世界でとても重要な日です。

1945年午前8寺15分、原爆ドームの600m上空で原爆は爆発しました。
爆弾が炸裂した当時、約35万人の住民がおりました。
生存者によると、原爆は一瞬だった閃光と爆音から『ピカドン』と呼ばれました。
突然、周辺の空気が1500℃以上になった状況を想像して見て下さい。
資料館で、犠牲者の所持品を見ることができます。
一例は、子供の黒焦げになった三輪車です。
これに乗っていた子供達はみんな亡くなった事訳ですので、とても心が痛みます。

原爆は、リトルボーイと呼ばれ、全長3.05m、直径0.71m、4.4トンで、アジア像と同じくらいの重さで、ウラニウム235が充填されていました。

原爆の火が未だに燃えていることをご存知でしょうか。
広島から300kmほど南西にある福岡県八女市星野村にある『平和の塔』と呼ばれる碑の説明板が、経緯を教えてくれています（下記写真参照）。

なぜ広島から遠く離れた場所に碑があるのでしょうか。
山本達雄さんはあの時、広島で軍事勤務に就かれ、原爆を体験しました。
直ぐに、叔父が経営していた金正堂書店を訪ねましたが、会うことも手がかりを見つけることもできませんでした。
達雄さんが見たのは、性別も分からなくなる程黒焦げた多数の死体と火傷した多数の人達が水を求めて彷徨う地獄絵図でした。
達雄さんは幼い頃、父を亡くしていたので、叔父に父親代わりの様に可愛がってもらっていました。

叔父の手掛かりをあちこち探したものの、予期した通り、何も見つかりませんでした。
しかし、豆炭を見つけ、息を吹きかけて火を起こす事に成功しました。
達雄さんは、叔父の形見として故郷に持ち帰り、叔父の供養の為に仏壇に供えました。
達雄さんは、二十年以上密かに火を守り続けてきました。
偶然にも、公の知る所となり、星野村に引き渡すことを決めました。

平和の火は分火されて、いくつかの場所で保管されています。
その一つが群馬県桐生市の寳德寺さんです。
2015年8月6日から平和を祈り灯されています。

2021年現在、世界にはおよそ13,000発の原爆があると言われています。
なぜ、核兵器は必要なのでしょうか。
人類皆兄弟です。
原爆を保有國に諦めさせる方法はありませんか。
