Mt. Fuji taken from the Tomei highway (Fujikawa S.A.)/東名富士川S.Aからの富士山

Long, long ago, a male Kami, or deity, from Mt. Yatsugatake and a female Kami, or deity, named “Konohana-nosakuyahime” from Mt. Fuji fought each other about who was higher than the other.
Another Kami, or deity, who could not stand watching their fight suggested that a gutter should be set between the two and water should be poured.

On the day of the match, the water ran down Mt. Fuji.
Only then did she realized that Mt. Fuji was lower than Mt. Yatsugatake.

Irate Konohanano-sakuyahime hit the head of Mt. Yatsugatake with its fullest power.
And then Mt. Yatsugatake was split into 8 peaks (see a photo below).

Since then, Mt. Fuji has become the highest mountain in Japan.
Its height is 3,776 meters.
On the other hand, Mt. Yatsugatake has ranked the 33rd highest in Japan.
The highest peak of Mt. Yatsugatake is Mt. Aka which is 2,899 meters high.

It’s scary to offend a woman, isn’t it?
