Today, I am going to introduce one of the most famous and classic hotels in Japan.
That is Nikko Kanaya Hotel, in Tochigi Prefecture.

It opened in 1873 and loved by lots of renowned people.
That has been registered as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties.
This year is its memorable 150th anniversary.

Nikko Kanaya hotel has a well-balanced property of Western and Japanese culture, which will lead you to the unexperienced but nostalgic atmosphere.

Nikko where the hotel is located is a must-see sightseeing spot in Japan.

You can also visit the World Heritage Site, Nikko Toshogu shrine which enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan (1603-1867), Futarasan shrine and Rinno-ji temple.

We can see historic interior as like Go-Tenjo (ceiling) with fine art or wooden carvings. We can also order some classic cocktails at the bar.

Next morning, let’s enjoy Kanaya style breakfast.
Time flows very slow around us.

Guest rooms have very classic atmosphere but they are equipped with beds and western style bathrooms.

We can enjoy the hotel comfortably and spend our time quietly.

There are a lot of cedar trees around the hotel.
The building of the hotel is literally white covered with beautiful green of those cedar trees.

I would like to recommend two seasons to stay there.
One is March, still chilly and snow left.
The air is clear with full of ions.
The other is Oct.
That hotel would be covered with beautiful autumn leaves.

The following photos are taken before the Pandemic.
I stayed there and really enjoyed its history.

From Aug. 01, Nikko Kanaya hotel will start to operate the guest rooms of the new wing which is now renovating.  I can’t wait.

      Hello Joy-san,

Thank you so much for your comment.

We can make a reservation for a standard twin or double bedded room from 35,000yen to 50,000yen for one night without meal.

Of course it depends on the seasonality or a room occupancy status.

Thanks again and I really hope you will have an opportunity to stay at Nikko Kanaya Hotel in the near future.
